iPhone Battery Repair & Replacement

Do you need to replace your iPhone battery? We can help.

Your iPhone is a sophisticated piece of equipment that is designed to deliver an experience which is simple and easy to use. The battery is one of the most critical part of your iPhone. It is not only responsible to deliver the energy necessary to power the device but also to deliver optimum performance. The battery used in iPhones uses lithium-ion (Li-ion) technology. Compared with the older generation of battery technologies, Li-ion batteries last longer, charge faster, and have a greater power density for battery life in a smaller and lighter package.

Li-ion batteries are the best technology currently available for your iPhone compared to their predecessors. All rechargeable batteries are consumables and have a limited lifespan. As they age, it might contribute to the declining performance of your iPhone such that they need to be replaced.

Apple added a new feature to measure the battery performance in iOS 11.3 and later for iPhone 6 and later models. It can be found in Settings > Battery > Battery Health. Your iPhone will notify you if your battery health has degraded significantly; the below message will also appear:

"Your battery’s health is significantly degraded. An Apple Authorized Service Provider can replace the battery to restore full performance and capacity."

This message does not indicate any safety issues, and you can still use your iPhone. However, you may be experiencing significant battery and performance issues. A new replacement battery will resolve the issue.

* There is a possibility that what seems to be a battery problem may be caused by a faulty component on the motherboard. Don’t worry; we can fix that too. We will perform a preliminary test on the motherboard before replacing the battery. If it is the motherboard, we will inform you about any additional costs and obtain your approval before proceeding with the repair.

Important Battery Message

Apple tries to make battery replacements harder for third-party repair services. In iPhone XS and later models, the batteries are coded with an OTP (one-time programmable) serial number, which is linked to the serial number of the device. Once the battery is replaced, the iPhone detects the serial number stored in the software no longer matches the new battery serial number. Hence, it starts showing “Important Battery Message” on your iPhone. This warning, similar to the recent addition of Screen warnings, happens even if you swap a genuine Apple battery from one phone to another. Apple uses cloud-based proprietary software to link the serial numbers again, which removes the message, and this software is only accessible to authorized service providers.

Your iPhone will report if the battery on your iPhone has been replaced with a message: “Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple battery.” It starts as a persistent message on your lock screen, lasting for four days. After that, the warning lodges itself in the Settings for 15 days and then in Settings > General > About after that. These notifications do not affect your ability to use your iPhone and will stop showing battery health percentage under Settings > Battery.

Here are some of the customers' most common questions about iPhone Battery Replacement.

The short answer is Yes. Like most smartphones, you can get your iPhone battery replaced if you feel the performance of your iPhone has degraded or your iPhone does not last a day.

Replacing the battery in your iPhone isn’t easy, but it’s doable. You don’t need an Apple Certified technician to do the job, but it will be in your best interest to get the battery replaced by a trained professional.

According to Apple, the iPhone’s battery is designed to retain up to 80 percent of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles. So if the full charge capacity is less than 80 percent of the design capacity and the recharge cycles exceed 500, your battery is considered worn. Apple has made it easier for end-users to keep track of their iPhone battery performance.

If you are running iOS 11.3 or later, it’s pretty easy to find out when your iPhone battery needs to be replaced. You can go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and check “Maximum Capacity.”

Note that this feature applies only to the iPhone 6 and later models.

The best time to replace your iPhone’s battery is when you notice that your iPhone won’t hold a sufficient charge to power through the day. In other words, get a new battery if the charge in your iPhone fails to suit your needs or makes the device unusable.

While losing data during a battery replacement is uncommon, there is always a chance. The battery replacement itself will not cause any data loss, but if something were to go wrong, it could wipe the iPhone. Hence, it is always best to take a complete backup before submitting your device for repair.
