Accidents happen. If you break your iPhone back glass, we can help.
Your iPhone’s back glass, commonly known as the back panel or back case, features precision-engineered, hardened glass that elegantly blends into the phone’s sleek metal frame. Internally reinforced by a robust laser-welded steel and copper structure, this glass is securely fused to the frame with microscopic sealing, enhancing your device’s water and dust resistance.
It takes about 2 to 3 hours to replace the back glass with a new one, depending on parts availability. Please call the store you will be visiting to check for stock availability before arriving.
Beginning with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, Apple introduced an innovative design allowing easy and efficient replacement of the back glass. This enhancement continued with the iPhone 15 series and newer models, significantly simplifying repairs while preserving the integrity of the device.

No, iPhones are not waterproof, but they are water-resistant to varying degrees depending on the model. Even though we do install a new back glass adhesive seal during the replacement, water resistance is not guaranteed.

Here are some of the most common questions customers ask about iPhone back glass.
Yes, a broken iPhone back glass can be fixed. On models like iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and later models, the glass is easily replaceable. For iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, and older models, the glass is fused to the frame, so repair requires a complete housing replacement.
Your iPhone will lose its water resistance if the back glass is cracked. Water and electronics don’t do well together. iPhones have a built-in battery, and water gets through the cracks and into the phone; the electric current can be sent to places that it shouldn’t go and that causes damage. Additionally, wireless charging may no longer work as expected. Cracked glass may even cut your hand if it’s protruding from the corner of the case. Do keep these details in mind if you decide to postpone servicing your device.
Starting with iPhone 8, Apple introduced back glass to support wireless charging. That’s the first iPhone model to have wireless charging. Wireless charging transfers energy from the charger to the iPhone through electromagnetic induction to the coil located inside the back of the iPhone. The reason it needs a back glass is that there isn’t a piece of metal affecting the electricity going through and charging the phone.
Apple introduced a new protective glass coating called Ceramic Shield, starting from iPhone 12. Ceramic shield promises up to 4x better drop resistance than previous iPhones, general scratch resistance, and clear optical performance for your iPhone rear cameras. The key technology in the protective glass is ceramic crystals. These small ceramic nanocrystals are embedded in the glass matrix using a high-temperature crystallization manufacturing process. The interlocking structure of crystals helps to deflect cracks and chips.
If your iPhone back glass is moderately cracked, it will not have any performance impact. However, a tiny crack or chip can quickly expand and can cause additional damage to your iPhone. Not only the broken glass can cut your hands and fingers, but it also makes it harder to use your iPhone. Additionally, your iPhone loses its water resistance, and if water gets through the cracks and into the phone, the electric current can be sent to places it shouldn’t go, and that causes damage.
